Game Recap: Softball |

Eagles Beat Raiders, Drop Game to Statesmen

Embry-Riddle started quick in the first game of the day against Northwestern as the Eagles won 4-1 before ERAU dropped the second game to William Penn 12-7 in Tucson on Friday.

Game 1
ERAU wasted no time applying pressure, scoring twice in the opening inning. After Ryan Da Costa singled and stole second, the Eagles strung together back-to-back RBI hits. Da Costa's speed and table-setting presence set the tone early, and ERAU carried a 2–0 lead into the bottom half.

The Eagles extended the lead to 3–1 in the second when Da Costa delivered again, this time with an RBI double to left.  Da Costa finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, and a stolen base, accounting for nearly half of ERAU's seven hits.

Senior ace Claire Streeter was simply untouchable. She threw a seven-inning complete game, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out nine

ERAU added its final run in the fourth when Danica Quinn reached on an error, moved to third, and scored on Da Costa's third hit of the day.

Northwestern loaded the bases in both the fourth and seventh innings, but ERAU's defense and Streeter's composure held firm.

Game 2

William Penn opened the game with a five-run first inning, capitalizing on a hit-by-pitch, a wild pitch, and a string of RBI swings.  ERAU trailed 5–0 before coming to the plate.

Embry-Riddle responded immediately. After Kealey Myhre walked and Katie Jamieson reached on an error, the Eagles delivered back-to-back RBI hits.

William Penn added three in the third and three more in the fourth.  That blast pushed the Statesmen ahead 11–2, but ERAU refused to fold.

ERAU chipped away in the fourth when Jade Bayless delivered her second RBI of the day:

The Eagles' biggest surge came in the fifth:

Down seven entering the final frame, the Eagles mounted one last push. Da Costa, Salas, and Myhre all singled to load the bases, and ERAU plated two more.

ERAU will play again in Tucson on Saturday with the first game beginning at 11:00am.
