Embry-Riddle wasted no time on Saturday jumping ahead in both games of the day as the Eagles beat Indiana Tech 8-0 and followed it up with a 14-6 win over Valley City State University on day two of the Tucson Invitational Games.
Game 1
Annalie Castanon and Ryan Da Costa opened the bottom of the first with back-to-back singles, and Leah Salas immediately cashed them in with a two-run double to left.
Moments later, Katie Jamieson added an RBI single to make it 3–0 after one.
The Eagles kept the pressure on in the second. After Jade Bayless singled and Tori Tlilayatzi entered to run, Castanon singled again, and Da Costa reached on an error to load the bases. Salas drew a walk to force in a run, and Kealey Myhre delivered the big swing of the inning:
ERAU's three-run frame stretched the lead to 6–0.
The Eagles added another in the third when
Danica Quinn singled home
Anise Romo, who had reached on a single and advanced on an error. Quinn wasn't done—she capped the scoring in the fifth with a no-doubt solo homer to left.
Senior ace
Claire Streeter was untouchable from the first pitch. She scattered just two hits over five innings, struck out six, and stranded all six Indiana Tech baserunners. Even when the Warriors threatened—such as in the first after a single and hit-by-pitch—Streeter shut the door with poise.
Game 2
After Ryan Da Costa reached on an error and stole second, Leah Salas ripped an RBI double to center to open the scoring.
Two batters later, Katie Jamieson doubled to right, driving in Salas and giving the Eagles a 2–0 lead.
Valley City State answered with one in the bottom half, but ERAU's offense was just getting started.
The Eagles capitalized on another defensive miscue in the third, as Annalie Castanon reached on an error and Da Costa singled. After a strikeout, Kealey Myhre doubled to right, scoring Castanon.
Jamieson added a productive RBI groundout, and Jade Bayless singled home Myhre to push the lead to 5–1.
