PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Embry-Riddle softball bounced back in emphatic fashion Tuesday evening at Eagle Softball Field, shaking off a high-scoring loss in Game 1 to erupt for a 12–4 run-rule victory in Game 2 behind an explosive second inning.
Game 1: Nelson 12, Embry-Riddle 8
The opener turned into an offensive marathon, with both teams trading big innings before Nelson pulled away late.
Nelson capitalized on early ERAU miscues, scoring twice in the first and adding single runs in the second and fifth. The Eagles kept pace thanks to timely hitting—Arianna Garcia tripled and later stole home, and Anise Romo launched a two-run homer in the fourth to tie the game at 3–3.
ERAU surged ahead briefly in the fifth when Charli York doubled home a run and Stephany Aguirre and Amber Lopez followed with RBI singles, giving the Eagles a 5–3 advantage. But Nelson answered with a decisive seven-run sixth inning, using six hits and a pair of ERAU errors to seize control.
ERAU mounted a final push in the seventh—Jill Bock doubled and Briseis Ramirez tripled to spark a two-run frame—but the deficit proved too large to overcome.
