Embry-Riddle softball delivered one of its most complete performances of the season on Tuesday afternoon, riding a shutdown outing from
Claire Streeter and timely offense to a 4–1 win over.
Streeter was simply unshakeable. The senior left-hander went the distance, scattering just four hits while striking out 10 and stranding 10 Firestorm runners. She worked out of traffic in nearly every inning, including a bases-loaded threat in the third, and held ACU scoreless after the opening frame.
After falling behind 1–0 in the first, ERAU immediately punched back in the second. With two aboard, Katie Jamieson ripped a single up the middle to score Anise Romo, tying the game at 1–1.
The Eagles kept applying pressure:
-
4th inning: A perfectly executed small-ball sequence put ERAU ahead. After a bunt and an error, Anise Romo drove in the go-ahead run on a groundout, making it 2–1.
-
5th inning: Arianna Garcia delivered a clutch RBI single down the right-field line to extend the lead to 3–1.
- 6th inning: Kayli Clark opened the frame with a laser to the gap for a triple, and Jamieson immediately brought her home with a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 4–1.
Offensive Standouts
ERAU tallied eight hits against ACU ace Alyssa Grinstead, who struck out 12 but couldn't keep the Eagles from capitalizing in key moments.
Streeter and the ERAU defense sealed the win with a clean seventh inning. Even after an error extended the frame, Streeter finished the job with her 10th strikeout, freezing ACU's final hitter to end the game.
