Prescott, Ariz. — Embry-Riddle controlled every phase of Thursday's match at Varsity Field, unleashing 43 shots and 18 shots on goal, but the Eagles were forced to settle for a 0–0 draw against Southern Oregon after an extraordinary performance from Raiders goalkeeper Ashlyn Fuss, who recorded 18 saves in 90 minutes.
The Eagles established their attacking rhythm immediately. Within the first 10 minutes, Jamie Brandon and Kaitlyn Roskopf generated multiple dangerous looks, including a Roskopf strike that hit the crossbar at 9:52.
Brandon was the engine of the attack all night, finishing with 12 shots and 8 on target, repeatedly forcing Fuss into acrobatic stops. Leah Barone added five shots of her own, three on frame, while Tessa Updegraff contributed eight attempts and orchestrated set pieces, taking four corner kicks.
Embry-Riddle's midfield dictated possession, and the back line allowed just eight total shots from Southern Oregon. Goalkeeper Maile Kahele remained steady when called upon, making three saves, including a key stop in the 87th minute to preserve the clean sheet.
The Eagles generated seven corner kicks and spent long stretches camped in the attacking third. Despite the pressure, Southern Oregon's defense stayed compact, and Fuss delivered one of the most impressive goalkeeping performances seen at Varsity Field in recent seasons.
Embry-Riddle intensified its attack after halftime, firing 21 second-half shots. Brandon, Updegraff, Roskopf, and Molly Newlin all produced quality chances, but Fuss continued to deny every attempt.
The Eagles' depth also showed, with frequent substitutions keeping fresh legs in the attack. Alawna Goodin, Samantha Wright, and Josie Young each added pressure late, combining for several shots and an 86th-minute corner that nearly broke the deadlock.
Despite controlling possession, tempo, and scoring opportunities, Embry-Riddle walked away with a frustrating but hard-earned draw. The Eagles outshot the Raiders 43–8, held an 18–3 advantage in shots on goal, and allowed only three Southern Oregon corners.
