PHOENIX, Ariz. — The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team delivered a dominant performance Monday evening, earning a 4-0 shutout victory over Nelson University Arizona.
The Eagles set the tone early, controlling possession and creating consistent pressure in the attacking third. Sean Maguire opened the scoring in the 21st minute, giving Embry-Riddle a 1-0 advantage.
Embry-Riddle doubled its lead 10 minutes later when Cesar Battistini found the back of the net. Kevin Yamna added another goal just before halftime, sending the Eagles into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Eagles continued to control the match in the second half, holding Nelson without a shot. Mars Davis capped the scoring in the 82nd minute, converting a pass from Habeeb Adetona to give Embry-Riddle its final 4-0 margin.
Embry-Riddle finished the night with a 15-3 advantage in shots and earned seven corner kicks. Goalkeeper Sam Macdonald made three saves to record the shutout.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday as GSAC play begins at OUAZ.
