Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. - After a year-and-a-half long wait to get back on the court, the Embry-Riddle women's basketball team put together an impressive defensive performance to pick up its first win in 19 months.
The Eagles were able to hold OUAZ to just 15 field goals and 27.8% shooting en route to a 72-50 win on Saturday afternoon. ERAU also hammered the Spirit on the glass as well, out-rebounding the Spirit 51-38.
Embry-Riddle was exceptionally dominant on the offensive glass, grabbing 24 offensive rebounds to go along with its 27 defensive rebounds. Seven different players had at least four boards, and all but two players did not grab at least a pair of rebounds.
Ella Shott led the scoring for the Eagles, scoring 17 on the bench for the game high. Shott was active all over the court, getting six rebounds, four steals and a block in 19 minutes.
Susie Reynoso was the top starter on the stat sheet, scoring 11 and swiping four steals of her own. Reynoso also had a game-high four assists and grabbed three offensive rebounds along the way.
The Eagles were able to record 15 steals throughout the afternoon, and forced a total of 29 OUAZ turnovers. ERAU also defended the three-point line well, holding the Spirit to 4-29 behind the arc.
Embry-Riddle will get Sunday off, but are right back on the court Monday to take on a tough University of Providence (MT) squad. Tip-off from the ERAU Events Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
