Eagles Return For First Home Game Since November

The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team returns to its home court for the first time since November when they host Cal Pac foe Simpson on Saturday night. The Eagles started great in its conference opener last Saturday, as the team held Benedictine-Mesa to 21.1% from the field, and freshman Ella Schott earned Cal Pac Player of the Week.

The Opponent

Simpson (2-13, 0-3 Cal Pac) – The Red Hawks are currently on a four-game losing streak, and have not won a game since December 5. Sandra Berrocal leads Simpson in scoring with 10.7 points per game in 25 minutes a night.

Eagle Notes

Schott earned the first Player of the Week honor for any Eagle athlete in 2022 when she took home Cal Pac Player of the Week. Schott scored 19 points to go along with nine rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal.

Schott has made exactly half of her field goals this season, converting on 54 of her 108 attempts. Her shooting percentage ranks second-best in the conference, and is shooting 75% in Cal Pac games.

The Eagles are not only good at getting to the free throw line, but are converting when they get there as well. ERAU leads the Cal Pac in free throw makes per game (14.0), and are second in the conference in free throw attempts per game (21.0).

The team loves to share the wealth on offense, as the Eagles rank second in the conference in assists. ERAU dishes out 14.3 assists per game, and had 18 in the conference opener last Saturday.

Embry-Riddle brings the effort on the glass every night, as they lead the Cal Pac in rebounds per game. The Eagles pull down 41.8 a game, with Schott and Mehgan Strickler each averaging 5.5.

Defensively, the Eagles make it hard to get shots up, as they lead the conference in blocks per game with 2.9. ERAU had seven blocks last Saturday, and Schott is averaging one per game.
