Box Score ALAMOSA, COLO. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team showed why it has the potential to be one of the Cal Pac's best this season on Saturday afternoon, nearly defeating NCAA D2 Fort Lewis College. The Eagles led a decent amount of time in the contest, and after regaining the lead late, FLC needed a pair of free throws with one second left to escape with a victory.
After trailing at the half by eight, the Eagles won both the third and fourth quarters, showing tremendous fight. After taking a one-point lead late, ERAU was whistled for a foul with a second remaining to allow the Skyhawks to sink two free throws to win.
Three different players finished in double-digit scoring figures for the Eagles, led by Mehgan Strickler's 22 points. Strickler also fell just two rebounds shy of her third double-double in the last four contests, as she grabbed eight boards on Saturday.
Ella Schott had another 50% day from the floor, making six of her 12 attempts and scoring 14 points. Zakiirah King had another physical and productive game, scoring ten tough points while also grabbing six rebounds.
Hannah Urbano was a solid distributor, as she finished with eight assists on the day. The Eagles shared the ball well comparatively to the Skyhawks, finishing with 14 helpers to FLC's eight.
Embry-Riddle will now have some time off after a busy start to the season, as they will wait eight days before getting on the court again. The Eagles will open up Cal Pac play against Benedictine-Mesa on Monday, November 28 in Chandler, with tip-off scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
