Box Score SURPRISE, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team had a tough shooting night on Monday as they fell 68-60 in OUAZ. The Eagles shot 36.1% on the night, and despite a gritty effort to fight back into the game, could not erase a double-digit halftime deficit.
With 4:54 to play, the Eagles trailed by just two points after crawling all the way back. The Eagles had the score at 54-52 at that point, but was never able to take the lead.
Embry-Riddle began its comeback in the third quarter, as they outscored the Spirit 19-11 and made seven of its 15 attempts. Embry-Riddle scored 37 points in the second half, as they continued to chip away at the lead.
Embry-Riddle had three players score in double figures, with Zakiirah King and Ella Schott each scoring 15. Aryana Gonzales had another great effort off the bench, scoring 14 points while grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists.
King was able to grab seven boards on the night, which also tied her for the team lead in rebounds with Schott. Mehgan Strickler also grabbed five rebounds, and as a team the Eagles grabbed 39.
ERAU will get back on the court on Thursday when they host Arizona Christian. Tipoff from the ERAU Activity Center in Prescott is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
