Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – A day after going to overtime after holding a big lead, the Embry-Riddle women's basketball team left no doubt to who was the better team on the court on Friday. A suffocating defensive effort left Antelope Valley to just 20.3% shooting, and the Eagles picked up a second consecutive conference victory, 61-48.
Embry-Riddle cut off its opponents' ability from behind the arc, as Antelope Valley made just two of its 22 three-point attempts. Despite giving up 20 offensive rebounds, the Eagles held tough on the extra chances as well, plus pulled down 44 defensive boards.
Mehgan Strickler was the rebound machine on Friday, grabbing 20 rebounds with 18 coming on the defensive end. Strickler was also able to score ten points, getting her fourth double-double in five conference contests.
Susie Reynoso had an efficient night scoring, making five of eight field goals and scoring 17 points. Reynoso also dotted the stat sheet in a bunch of different areas which saw her grab five rebounds, dish out two assists, and nab three steals.
Ella Schott had a great hustle night, grabbing eight rebounds, two steals and blocking a shot. Schott was not the only one to have a multi-steal night, as Reynoso also had two steals while Strickler posted three.
Embry-Riddle has one more game before the end of 2022, a non-conference matchup with Hastings College on Tuesday, December 20th. Tipoff from the ERAU Activity Center is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
