Embry-Riddle Drops Close Contest at Merced

Box Score

MERCED, CALIF. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team had a great opportunity to end UC Merced's 11-game Cal Pac regular season win streak on Friday night, but fell just short on the road. The Eagles trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, but fought back to eventually lead a good amount in the second half.

UC Merced tied the game at 61 with 2:22 to play, and each team went on a scoring drought until there was under a minute in regulation. The Bobcats eventually broke that over one minute scoreless stretch, and while the Eagles would pull within one, ERAU was never able to take the lead again.

It was another excellent third quarter for Embry-Riddle on Friday, as they made eight of its 12 attempts from the field and outscored UC Merced 20-12. The Eagles also made three of four attempts from three in that ten minute stretch, and Mehgan Strickler scored seven in the quarter.

Strickler was one of two players to finish in double-digit scoring figures, as she had 15 on the night. It was yet another double-double for Strickler, as she managed to pull down 11 rebounds as well.

Susie Reynoso was tied for the game-high in points, putting up 17 while shooting 55.6% from the field and hit three shots from behind the arc. Reynoso also had a pair of assists and nabbed three steals.

Embry-Riddle will wrap up its first trip to Northern California this season on Sunday when they face off with Simpson. Tipoff from Redding is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Arizona Time.
