Eagles Fall in Roller Coaster OT Finish

Box Score

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team started off great in its important matchup with Park-Gilbert, leading by 19 points at halftime. A tough third quarter offensively for ERAU allowed for the Buccaneers to push the game into overtime, where the Eagles fell 88-83 on Thursday night.

Embry-Riddle built its lead in the second quarter with a mix of good defense and effective shooting. The Eagles held PUG to 30% shooting, and ERAU went 9-17 from the field, and 4-6 from three.

Despite surrendering the lead, the Eagles were down two points with two seconds to go, and got the perfect play to send the game into overtime. An inbounds play out of a timeout got Hannah Urbano open, who got the shot up just before the final buzzer of regulation.

The Eagles could not capitalize on the momentum, scoring just five points, all off free throws. Park-Gilbert was not much better from the floor, going 2-9 in the extra frame, but got to the line nine times, converting on six attempts.

Susie Reynoso was the Eagles leading scorer, putting up 18 and was perfect from the free throw line. Reynoso was also the only player in the game to score in all five periods, and fell one rebound short of the double-double.

Zakiirah King was close to a double-double as well, finishing with eight points and nine rebounds. Micaela Hidalgo was also tough on the glass, grabbing eight rebounds off the bench.

The Eagles will wrap up its regular season on Monday when they host Benedictine-Mesa on Senior Night. Tipoff from the ERAU Activity Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
