Box Score PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – Three nights after a heartbreaking overtime loss, the Embry-Riddle women's basketball team broke out in style, throttling Saint Katherine 72-40 on Saturday night. Ten players scored at least four points, and the Eagles allowed its opponents to make just 13 field goals in the contest.
The Eagles led by three at the end of the first quarter, and started to build upon its lead before halftime. Embry-Riddle went on an 11-0 run to start the second quarter, and took a 12-point lead into the break.
ERAU then outscored USK by 20 in the third quarter, and the Firebirds made just one of its 16 attempts from the floor. The Eagles had a great shooting quarter, converting at a 55% rate and putting the game away before the last quarter began.
Ella Schott led all scorers with 14 points, and was 7-12 from the field. Schott also grabbed six rebounds, nabbed a steal and dished a pair of assists.
Mehgan Strickler was a big contributor of the first half offense, as she scored nine of her first 13 points in the opening 20 minutes. She also grabbed ten rebounds, marking her first double-double of the season.
Embry-Riddle will get back on the floor on Sunday when they host Westcliff, looking for a weekend sweep heading into the final stretch of the season. Tipoff from the ERAU Activity Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
