Box Score RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – The first quarter of an important road trip was rough for the Embry-Riddle women's basketball team, as they allowed 25 points and trailed by 10 to La Sierra. The Eagles did lock in and recover, allowing La Sierra to score just 31 points over the final three quarters, and ERAU picked up the offense to take away a 66-56 win on Friday afternoon.
Embry-Riddle outscored the opposition by six or more points in each of the final three quarters, putting their stamp on the game with a 19-11 advantage in the final ten minutes. A good part of the rally was the 17 offensive rebounds the Eagles pulled in, giving themselves second chances to take a lead and never look back.
Aryana Gonzalez had another excellent game off the bench, scoring 15 points to lead the Eagles. Gonzalez made a pair of threes, and also knocked down nine free throws on the afternoon.
Mehgan Strickler led all ERAU starters with 14 points and was also able to pull in eight rebounds. Strickler was all over the stat sheet, as she had a pair of steals and dished out an assist.
Liz Behan finished one point shy of a double-double, scoring nine points to go along with 12 rebounds. Behan was battling down low for the offensive rebounds, grabbing five and blocking two shots.
The Eagles will not only look for a road trip sweep on Sunday, but the season series sweep of Antelope Valley that afternoon. Tipoff from the Pioneer Events Center in Lancaster, Calif. is scheduled for 3 p.m. AZT/2 p.m. PST on Sunday.
