Embry-Riddle wrestling beat Cerritos College 46-9 but then lost a tight match to Snow College 24-22 in the ERAU Mile High Duals in the Activity Center on Friday evening.
Match vs. Cerritos
Jaren Kimura (Mililani, Hawaii) earned a tech fall in his 125lb matchup over Roberto Ramirez. Kimura won the match 20-5 in 6:42. At 133lbs Allan Hendricks (Corona, Calif.) dropped a tight decision 6-5. Carson Coy (Peoria, Ariz.) earned a technical fall in 5:46 for the Eagles at 141lbs as he won his match 18-2. At 149lbs for ERAU, Anthony Pavlov-Ramirez (Los Gatos, Calif.) pinned his opponent in 4:07 and Peyton Proper (Marana, Ariz.) also won by fall in 4:11 at 157lbs. In the 165lb weight class, Noah Zuniga of Cerritos beat Sam Humphrey. Daniil Gorshkov (Moscow, Russia) won by forfeit at 174lbs before the next two Embry-Riddle wrestlers pinned their opponents. Thomas Stadel (Maryville, Tenn.) only need 1:46 before he won his match and Jett Swain (Vernal, Utah) only needed 2:11. At 285lbs, Corbin Hayes (Lompoc, Calif.) won by forfeit.
Match vs. Snow College
Kimura earned his second win of the day as he pinned his opponent from Snow College in 3:52 at 125lbs. Wrestling in the 133lb match from ERAU was Colby Evens (Chino Valley, Ariz.) and he dropped a decision 7-9. At 141bls, Christian Lopez (Sahuarita, Ariz.) won by fall in 1:59. Snow College picked up wins in the next three weight classes. At 149lbs, Humphrey was beat by Will Korth. In the 157lb weight class, Colter Ricks beat Proper in a tight 8-6 match. At 165lbs, William Prater (Naperville, Ill.) had to quit wrestling due to an injury so Snow College was awarded the victory. Gorshkov won his match by major decision 11-0 at the 174lb weight class. Stadel dropped his second match of the day to Chandler Thompson at 184lbs. Swain won again at the 197lb class with a score of 16-9 and Hayes also won gain with a 6-3 score.
Embry-Riddle is back in action today as they are hosting the ERAU Mile High Open.
