Box Score Embry-Riddle got off to a sluggish start in Emory, Virginia as they lost 74-60 to the Wasps of Emory & Henry College.
The Wasps scored the first eight points of the game before Zakiirah King (Chandler, Ariz.) made a layup to get the Eagles on the board. ERAU was able to trim the lead to three as King made another layup and a free throw to make the score 9-12. At the end of the first quarter, Emory & Henry had a four point lead at 20-16.
Imani Alegria (Goodyear, Ariz.) made a three for Embry-Riddle to start the second quarter as the Eagles worked to cut into the lead. Alegria's three made the score 19-25. The Wasps led by as many as 11 with 5:01 to go in the half before Mehgan Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) made a three point basket to bring the score to 24-32. Strickler made another three with 3:20 left to get ERAU within five points. At the half, Embry-Riddle was down seven with the score 37-30.
ERAU scored the first three points of the second half as Strickler made a free throw and Aryana Gonzales (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) made a layup as the Eagles found themselves down just by four points. The Wasps went on a little scoring run in the middle of the third quarter as they lead grew to 13 points. At the end of the quarter, the score was 58-45 in favor of Emory & Henry.
Embry-Riddle tried to close the gap in the fourth quarter but was unable to as the Wasps closed out the game for their third win of the season.
Susie Reynoso (Escondido, Calif.) led ERAU in scoring again with 16 points and King added 11. Strickler led the team in rebounds as she grabbed six. Gonzales dished out five assists for the Eagles offense.
Embry-Riddle will have a little time off before they begin Cal Pac play at Simpson on Thursday, November 30th.
