MESA, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team needed just one win to clinch its spot in the Cal Pac Tournament, and got off to an excellent start against Park-Gilbert on Friday night. The Eagles finished the first quarter up 19-9, and went into halftime with a nine point lead.

That advantage was erased in ten minutes, as the Buccaneers fought all the way back and the teams entered the final quarter tied at 43. Both teams scored over 20 points in the final 10 minutes of the game, but PUG took away a 69-65 win.

Embry-Riddle trailed by as many as 14 in the fourth quarter, and were down nine with 1:38 to go. The Eagles fought back within one with 14 seconds to play, but were unable to finish its furious rally on Friday.

Aryana Gonzales had another solid performance off the bench, having a game-high in points with 19 and assists with seven. Gonzales knocked down four three-point attempts, and also pulled in four rebounds.

Three other players finished with double-digit point totals, as Susie Reynoso (15 points), Zakiirah King (13 points) and Hannah Urbano (10 points) were able to score often for ERAU. King and Urbano had efficient scoring nights as well, as they both shot over 50% from the field.

The Eagles will have its second opportunity to clinch a Cal Pac Tournament spot on Sunday in its final home game of the year. Tipoff from the ERAU Activity Center on Sunday is set for 2 p.m.
