Box Score VALLEJO, CALIF. – The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team entered the second half of its contest with Cal Maritime with a lead on Thursday night, and led by four with just over 11 minutes left to play. The Eagles were once again on the wrong end of a late-game run, and despite nearly taking the lead with less than five minutes to play, fell to the Keelhaulers, 90-79.
After weathering a 14-2 run by Cal Maritime, the Eagles got within two points a few times as they tried to wrestle back the lead. The Keelhaulers went on another scoring run to pull away, and despite a fight to the final buzzer, ERAU lost its first game of the Northern California road trip.
Dennis Pomazanov had another double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. A whopping 13 of those boards came on the defensive end, and Pomazanov had a pair of assists to go along with a block.
Jake Klingler and Conner Verdugo shared the team lead in scoring, as they each contributed 18 points. The two combined for a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, and Klingler also had four three-point makes.
Christmas Togiai, Jr. had a good all-around night, shooting 50% and dishing out seven assists. Conner Verdugo was distributing as well, handing out six assists on Thursday.
The Eagles will have a couple of days off from game action before wrapping up its road trip on Sunday. Embry-Riddle will take on Pacific Union, with tipoff from The Covered Wagon scheduled for 3 p.m. AZT/2 p.m. PST.
