Box Score VALLEJO, CALIF. – For the second time this season, Embry-Riddle women's basketball put together an excellent team effort in a victory over Cal Maritime. After a first quarter where the Eagles led by three, ERAU allowed just 31 points in the final 30 minutes, and pulled away quickly for an 88-46 victory.
Embry-Riddle shot well from the floor, hitting 45.7% of its attempts and making 37 field goals. The Eagles also got 42 of its points off the bench, and held Cal Maritime to 33.3% shooting, plus just one made three.
ERAU also dominated the hustle stats, winning the rebound margin by 17 and also getting 16 steals. In all, the Eagles forced 23 Cal Maritime turnovers, and Embry-Riddle also blocked three shots.
Aryana Gonzales scored a team-high 12 points in just nine minutes, making the most of her time on the court. Gonzales was 50% from behind the arc, and also dished out a pair of assists.
Three other players scored 10 points for ERAU on Thursday, all coming off the bench. Grace Meshanko, Imani Alegria and Kate McBride each crossed the double-digit scoring threshold, with the three players going a combined 13-20 from the floor.
Sydney Mickulin was a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor, and also stayed perfect at the free throw line with a pair of makes. Mickulin also had five rebounds and five assists for her best all-around output of the season.
ERAU will wrap up the road trip with a visit to Angwin, Calif. to take on Pacific Union. Tipoff from The Covered Wagon on Sunday is scheduled for 5 p.m. AZT/3 p.m. PST.
