Box Score Embry-Riddle played well in the first half and was down 35-34 before ultimately falling to the Firebirds of USK by a final score of 77-57 in San Marcos on Thursday evening.
Dennis Pomazanov (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) scored the first points of the game on a layup before St. Kats scored the next four as they led early 4-2. Each time the Eagles would tie the score, USK would retake the lead until Conner Ivy (Phoenix, Ariz.) made a three point shot to give ERAU their first lead at 16-13 with 12:17 remaining in the half. The Firebirds responded with a three of their own to tie the score at 16-16. At the half, the Eagles were down 35-34.
USK scored the first six points of the second half before Pomazanov made a layup for Embry-Riddle. The Firebirds led 43-38 with 15:49 remaining in the game. Neither team scored for a minute and thirty seconds until Saint Katherine's went on a 10-0 run and extended their led to 13 points. Christmas Togiai, Jr. (Kapolei, Hawaii) made a layup to score again for ERAU and then two free throws with 10:08 remaining. The Firebirds used another long run to pull away from Embry-Riddle as they went on to win 77-57.
Embry-Riddle will play again on Saturday afternoon against the Westcliff Warriors at the Jordan Lawley Facility. Tip-off is set for 2pm.
