Box Score Embry-Riddle Women's Basketball won for the second game in a row in the Activity Center on Saturday evening as they downed the Pioneers by a final score of 97-58.
The Eagles got off to a slow start but were able to get some separation from PUC on a Mehgan Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) three point basket to go up 14-7. The Pioneers came back and made it a two point game and took a 17-16 lead. ERAU regained the lead as this time Aryana Gonzales (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) made a three to make the score 19-17. Strickler made another three point shot with one second left in the quarter to give the Eagles a 24-19 lead after the first ten minutes.
Pacific Union kept the score close until Embry-Riddle used a 7-0 run to go up by 14 as Micaela Hidalgo (Greeley, Colo.) scored four points during the run and Hannah Urbano (Kailua, Hawaii) made a three. At the half, ERAU led 48-35.
At the start of the third quarter, the teams traded points but then ERAU used a big 19-0 run as they held the Pioneers scoreless for four minutes. On the run, Zakiirah King (Chandler, Ariz.) scored six points for the Eagles. Embry-Riddle closed out the third quarter with a 33 point lead with the score 75-42.
In the final 10 minutes, neither team scored for the first minute and a half but the Imani Alegria (Goodyear, Ariz.) got a rebound and a basket and Liz Behan (St. Peters, Mo.) followed that up with a layup. The game ended with an ERAU 97-58 win.
King scored 14 points for Embry-Riddle followed by 12 for Behan. Behan led the team in rebounds with nine. Hidalgo, Susie Reynoso (Escondido, Calif.), and Nicole Evenson (Bemidji, Minn.) each contributed four assists.
ERAU will travel to Southern California next week as they will play Saint Katherine at 2pm on Thursday January 11th.
