Embry-Riddle wrestled well at the Falcon Invite in Park City, Kansas as seven Eagles placed, led by
Jayden Lutrell who finished 1st at 157lbs and
Kenneth Copley (Sugar City, Idaho) who was first at 285lbs.
At 125lbs,
Landon Smith (Bethel, Alaska) finished in 2nd place. Smith won his first match by fall and then won his next three by decision until falling in the championship match.
Allan Hendricks (Corona, Calif.) also wrestled at 125lbs and finished in 3rd place. Hendricks won his first match with a major decision and then worked his way through the consolation bracket for his finish. He won by fall in his 3rd place match in 2:29 after winning three straight matches by decision.
Christian Lopez (Sahuarita, Ariz.) and
Adam Stanley (Costa Mesa, Calif.) finished in a co-third place at 141lbs. Lopez won his first three matches before moving to the consolation bracket. Stanley lost his first match but worked his way back through the consolation bracket as he won five straight matches to make the 3rd place match.
At 157lbs, Lutrell was the champion and teammate
Logan Hancey (Ogden, Utah) finished 3rd. Lutrell earned one decision, two major decisions, and two falls on his way to the championship. Hancey won his first three matches and then worked his way through the consolation bracket for his third place finish.
Copley was crowned the champion at the 285lb weight class finishing the day 5-0. Copley won four of his five matches by fall and the fifth by major decision.
Embry-Riddle will be back on the mat on November 15th as the Eagles host the Mile High Duals.
