Embry-Riddle wrestled in the Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday and the highlight was a second place finish by
Kenneth Copley.
Copley wrestled at the 285lb weight class and finished the event 4-1.
At 125lbs,
Landon Smith, won his first match 3-2 before moving down to the consolation bracket. In the consolation bracket Smith won one more match before he was done.
Jaren Kimura wrestled at 133lbs and finished 1-2 in the tournament.
At 141lbs both
Christian Lopez and
Adam Stanley received a bye in the first round and then lost in their match to move to the consolation bracket. In the consolation bracket Lopez earned a tech fall and Stanley a 10-0 win before they both lost again and were done.
Jonah Chew reached the quarterfinals at 149lbs before he lost moving him to the consolation bracket. He won by major decision and two decisions before falling 4-2. He finished the day 3-2.
At 157lbs,
Peyton Proper reached the consolation bracket round of 16.
Will Prater and
Wyatt Rewerts both wrestled in the 165lb bracket. Rewerts finished the day 1-2 with a win by decision and Prater finished 0-2.
Daniil Gorshkov won his first match at 174lbs and reached the consolation round of 8.
At 184lbs,
Thomas Stadel finished the day 0-2.
Also wrestling at 185lbs for the Eagles was
Corbin Hayes. Hayes finished the day 2-2.
Embry-Riddle will take a short break for the Holidays before the Eagles are back on the mat at the Prescott Valley Event Center on January 4th at 1pm.
