Box Score Embry-Riddle won their 5th straight Cal Pac Conference game on Saturday afternoon as they beat the Keelhaulers of Cal Maritime in Vallejo, Calif.
ERAU jumped out to a lead and never looked back as Micaela Hidalgo (Greeley, Colo.) started the game with a made jump shot. After getting an offensive rebound, Hidalgo found Mehgan Strickler (Glendale, Ariz.) who made a jump shot as well and the Eagles led 4-0. After a basket by CSUM, Aryana Gonzales (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) made a three point basket and Zakiirah King (Chandler, Ariz.) followed with a layup for a 9-2 advantage. Embry-Riddle continued to extend their lead and at the end of the 1st quarter held a 31-17 lead.
Cal Maritime scored six straight points to cut into the lead at the beginning of the second quarter, but Liz Behan (St. Peters, Mo.) ended their run with a free throw and Sydney Mickulin (Nolensville, Tenn.) followed with two free throws of her own to bring the Eagle lead back to 12 points. ERAU took a 20 point lead into halftime.
After the Keelhaulers scored first to begin the third quarter, Susie Reynoso (Escondido, Calif.) made a layup just 40 seconds into the quarter to make the score 49-30 ERAU. Neither team would score again for two minutes when Gonzales made a layup with 6:55 left in the third quarter. With just over two minutes to play in the 3rd, Hannah Urbano (Kailua, Hawaii) made her first of five three point baskets of the day to give the Eagles a 61-36 advantage.
As the teams headed into the final ten minutes of play, Embry-Riddle held a 63-40 lead over Cal Maritime and the Eagles did not let up. Kate McBride (Atlanta, Ga.) made a three to start the 4th quarter and Behan followed with a made jump shot. The Keelhaulers scored the next eleven points, but then Urbano made two more three point baskets followed by a three from Imani Alegria (Goodyear, Ariz.). Embry-Riddle went on to win the game 90-61.
Urbano led the Eagles with 15 points and Gonzales and McBride each added 12. Behan led the team in rebounds with 13.
Embry-Riddle will return back to Prescott as they host the Warriors from Westcliff on Thursday evening at 5:30pm in the Activity Center.
