Box Score PRESCOTT, Ariz. – On Senior Day the Embry-Riddle women's basketball team used a 20-point fourth quarter to pull away from Saint Katherine to score a 68-58 California Pacific Conference victory. Junior Zakiirah King (Chandler, Ariz.) led ERAU with 16 points while senior Aryana Gonzales (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) added 12 for the Eagles, who won their seventh straight game.
A back and forth first eight minutes of the first half resulted in a 13-13 tie. From there Saint Katherine (10-15, 7-11 Cal Pac) put together a 7-3 run to take a 17-13 advantage into the second quarter. Embry-Riddle (15-11, 13-5 Cal Pac). A three-pointer from King two minutes into the second quarter ignited a 12-0 run that King polished off with a layup for a 30-22 Eagle lead at the 4:06 mark. ERAU maintained its advantage for the rest of the half, going into the locker room with a 37-29 lead.
Embry-Riddle kept its lead for most of third quarter, but Saint Katherine whittled its deficit down to two in the final minutes of the quarter, trailing 48-46 going into the final stanza. Midway through the final 10 minutes another trey from King put the Eagles up 58-49 and they never looked back. The Firebirds came back to within five at 58-53 with four minutes to go, but a three from Gonzales a minute later bumped the Eagles advantage to 11 and they maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
