Box Score PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Embry-Riddle held a halftime lead, but Saint Katherine came back in the second half and held off the Eagles down the stretch to claim a 64-55 California Pacific Conference men's basketball victory. Junior Christmas Togiai, Jr. (Kapolei, Hawaii) led Embry-Riddle with 16 points, with senior Jake Klingler (Gilbert, Ariz.) adding 13 points.
Saint Katherine (19-7, 12-6 Cal Pac) scored the first bucket of the game, but Embry-Riddle (7-18, 6-12 Cal Pac) came back and took its first lead of the contest on a free throw by junior David Teibo (Phoenix, Ariz.). The Eagles pushed their advantage to five points after a layup by junior Dennis Pomazanov (Pleasant Hill, Calif.). With the game tied at 16-all with 7:29 left in the half, ERAU scored nine straight, netting a 25-16 lead on a trey by Togiai at the 3:16 mark. The Eagles held on to their lead the rest of the way, taking a 29-21 lead into the half.
Saint Katherine started to cut into the ERAU lead at the start of the second half and eventually tied the game at 32-all six minutes in. The Firebirds then picked up three steals over the next three minutes and used that to forge a 41-37 lead midway through the half. Embry-Riddle got within one at 48-47 with 3:44 left, but it proved to be as close as the Eagles would get as the Firebirds outscored them 16-8 down the stretch to come away with the victory.
