Embry-Riddle had five Eagles place at the Falcon Invite Saturday held in Park City, Kansas led by
Allan Hendricks and
Yoshiya Funakoshi who both took first place in their weight class.
Hendricks wrestled at 133lbs for ERAU and won his first match 9-1. He followed that up with an 11-1 win and then a 7-0 win to reach the semifinals. In the semifinal he won a narrow 6-5 match but then won the championships with a 17-6 major decision.
Funakoshi wrestled at 141 and started his day with a 9-4 sudden victory. In his second match, he won 7-1 and then used an 11-0 major decision to reach the semifinal round. In the semifinal he won 11-0 and then won a close 7-6 match in the championship round.
At 149lbs,
Christian Lopez finished in 2nd place. Lopez used a tech fall in 3:21 in his first match and then won his second match 14-1. In his third match, Lopez won 7-3 and he advanced to the final with an 8-7 decision. He lost the championship match 10-1.
Daniil Gorshkov also finished in 2nd place at 174lbs. Gorshkov used an 18-1 tech fall in his first match to get his day started. In his second match, he won 17-3 and in his third 5-0. He also won by tech fall in the semifinals but then lost in the championship round 11-6.
At 197lbs,
Trenton Blomquist came in 4th place. Blomquist won his first match 9-3 before he fell to the consolation bracket. In the consolation bracket he won three matches in a row before he lost in the 3rd place bout.
Adam Stanley finished the day 4-2 for the Eagles at 141lbs.
Clemente Deldago won three matches at 125lbs. Also at 125lbs,
Jaren Kimura finished the day 1-2. At 157lbs,
Sam Humphrey went 1-2 for the Eagles, followed by
Will Prater finished 0-2 at 165lbs. At 285lbs,
Sherman Sheldon went 0-2 on the day.
Embry-Riddle will wrestle again on Sunday, November 9th against New Mexico Highlands in Window Rock, Ariz.
