Embry-Riddle wrestlers
Logan Hancey, Keller Rock, Daniil Gorshkov, and
Kenneth Copley all reached the quarterfinal matches at the NAIA National Championships at the Park City Arena in Kansas. The four will continue to wrestle on Friday and Saturday as they compete for a National Championship.
At 125lbs,
Landon Smith won his first match by a 6-2 decision. He then lost by sudden victory in the round of 16 and then lost in the consolation bracket.
Both
Christian Lopez and
Adam Stanley qualifed for ERAU at 141lbs. Lopez lost his first two matches. Stanley won his first match by fall but then lost his next two in the consolation round.
At 149lbs,
Jonah Chew lost both his matches by sudden victory to get knocked out of the tournament.
Hancey wrestles at 157lbs and had a first round bye and then won his match by a 9-5 decision to be in the final 8.
At 165lbs, Rock won both his matches today winning 16-6 in the first match followed by winning by fall in 1:41 over the #15 seed. With his first win today, Rock picked up his 100th win as an Eagle.
At 174lbs, Gorshkov moves into the final eight with two major decisions. He won his first match 13-3 followed by a 15-2 win in his second match.
Trenton Blomquist qualified at 197lbs and lost his first match but then came back and won his second in the consolation round. In his third match he lost a close 8-3 battle against #6.
Corbin Hayes and Copley both made the trip at 285lbs for the Eagles. Hayes lost his first two matches, but Copley reached the quarterfinals with two wins by fall.
Wrestling will begin again at 10am on Friday with the quarterfinals matches happening first in session three.
