Eagles Defeat the Pioneers

Prescott- The Embry-Riddle Eagles women's volleyball team defeated the Pac Union Pioneers today to improve their Cal Pac record to 9-1 and 16-3 overall.

The Eagles had a terrific day at the net with 10 blocks, 3 by Leah De Laurell, 3 by Katie Powell, and 2 by Hannah Mercurio. It was the comblination of The Eagles blocking and kills and errors by the Pioneers that allowed The Eagles to sweep the game 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-17) and the series. The Pioneers had 22 errors on the day compared to the Eagles 8 and hitting percentage of .99 compared to The Eagles .288 that made the difference in the game.

Jalin Yoder gave a strong performance for The Eagles leading in kills with 15, she was followed by Lyndsey Weiler with 7, and Jordan Jones with 5.Courtney Clark and Amanda Loefflerof the Pioneers each had 10 kills, and Athena Abary had 25 assists and 14 digs to lead PUC in both categories. Hannah Mercurio had another stellar passing game with 39 assists on the day.

The Eagles return to the court tomorrow against Simpson University at home 7:00 PM.
