Eagles Soar with First Win of the Season

Denver, Colo. - The Embry-Ridtdle women's volleyball secured their first win of the season in convincing fashion defeating the Wolfpack of Loyola (La.) 25-21,25-18,25-11.

After a shaky start falling behind the Wolfpack early, The Eagles found themselves down throughout the majority of the first set. Although down they remained in striking range never falling further than three points behind the team did not hit their stride until the 20th point were they started to create some breathing room behind two aces from Jalin Yoder and kills from Jordan Jones and Leah DeLaurel. The Eagles sealed the game with a kill by DeLaurel.

Although the first game was largely back and forth with The Eagles behind for much of the match the story was much different in sets two and three. The Eagles once again started behind the Wolfpack 4-1, but it didn't take until the 20th point for the ladies to make their move. The Eagles scored seven in a row to take the lead and they never gave it up after that, although the Wolfpack was able to come back and tie the game twice in the set.

In the third set The Eagles dominated the Wolfpack leading the entire game, with a seven point stretch that proved too much for the Wolfpack to overcome.

The Eagles will return to the court this afternoon at the Johnson & Wales classic as they take on the University of Montana- Western who were 8-19 in 2015.
