Eagles Defeat Firestorm, Prepare for Conference

Prescott - The Embry-Riddle women's volleyball team defeated Artizona Christian for the second time this season completing the sweep.

The Eagles improved their record to 7-2 last week with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) defeat of the in-state rival Firestorm. Sophomore Jalin Yoder led The Eagles in kills (13) and blocks(2) Hannah Mercurio was the leader in assists with (31) and Kaitlin Shroll has two aces and 12 digs on the night.

The Eagles begin conference play this week at home when they face the Bobcats of UC-Merced Friday night and the Pioneers of Antelope Valley Saturday night. The Bobcats 2-7, return Cal Pac Player of the year Junior Rachel Schaefer who finished the seasonwith a team high 255 kills (3.1 kills per set; 0.203 pct. and had 183 digs (2.3 digs per set), 25 total blocks (4 solo blocks and 21 block assists) and 31 service aces. Joining Schaefer will be four new freshman for the Bobcats and a new head coach Ai Prachumshi a graduate of UC-Merced was the lead assistant in 2015 and was a member and coach of the men's team previous to that.

The Eagles look use their tough pre-season schedule as preparation for the difficult Cal Pac schedule. The first serve is at 7:00 PM join your Eagles and receive a free schedule poster and slice of pizza provided by Little Caesar's after the game.
