Eagles Fly By Pacific Union

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – After enduring a five set thrilling come from behind victory in their last match, (19) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) volleyball (21-6, 11-0) made short work of Pacific Union College (8-12, 5-6) winning the contest in just over an hour, 25-7, 25-20, 25-17.

ERAU had been struggling with the accuracy of their attacks in their last few games but that was not how tonight went down. Riddle was attacking and attacking at a high rate, they attacked at .462 in the first set and .306 overall. Not only did they hit the ball well they went on extremely long runs. In the first set they would go on an 11-0 run to go up by 16 and set the pace for the rest of the match.

One thing about being so efficient is that there are less opportunities for big stat totals. ERAU put up solid numbers but nothing astronomical. Erin Clark (SO/Phoenix, Ariz.) would lead the team in digs with 13 and Jalin Yoder (SR/Fountain Hills, Ariz.) was right behind with 11. Sharik Joseph (SO/San Diego, Calif.) dominated when she was out there and finished with 10 kills, 5 blocks and a stellar hitting percentage of .600. Just like clockwork, Audrey Baldwin (JR/Santa Barbara, Calif.) would set up her teammates 30+ times for the seventh match in a row and 12th time out of her last 13.

Unfortunately for the Pioneers, the Eagles offense was just too good tonight. All six starters for the Eagles ended the night with .200+ hitting percentages.

Riddle will be back in Eagle Gym tomorrow (10/19) at 7:00 p.m. for another California Pacific Conference match with University of California – Merced (9-10, 7-4).
