PRESCOTT, Ariz. – (17) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University volleyball (14-3, 2-0) took down California Pacific Conference foe, Marymount California University (3-6, 0-2) in straight sets, 25-16, 25-23, 25-11.
In their second Cal Pac game this weekend the Eagles took care of business early on. When ERAU is attacking at a high rate they are fun to watch and that was the case today. ERAU attacked at .417, .190 and .333 as a unit in each set. 7 of the Eagles ended the match with a percentage of at least .300 with Erin Clark (SO/Phoenix, Ariz.) leading the way with 12 kills. Kat Yung (FR/Phoenix, Ariz.) was spectacular on defense as she amassed 18 digs in the match. Caylee Robalin (SO/El Paso, Texas) was stout on defense and attacking as she came out with 10 kills and 10 digs.
A hotly contested second set made the match very interesting as both teams went on large scoring runs to keep it close throughout. But a Sharik Joseph (SO/San Diego, Calif.) block at 23-22 gave the Eagles a chance to win it and Clark came through powering a kill that MCU couldn't handle.
It was all Eagles in the third and final set as they went on a spectacular run where they scored 12 points to the Mariners one. Ultimately that run gave ERAU all they needed as they shut the door on their Cal Pac rivals.
ERAU heads to California next weekend as they take on California-Merced (9/20), Simpson (9/21) and Pacific Union (9/22) in a long road trip of conference action.
