PRESCOTT, Ariz. – A solid team performance by the (19) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) volleyball team (15-6, 6-0) was too much to handle for the visiting Providence Christian College Seabeggars where the Eagles came out with a victory in straight sets, 25-12, 25-14, 25-19.
It was all Eagles from the start, they began the first set by going on a nice run that brought the score to 12-4 and they never looked back. In typical ERAU fashion the attack was on fire all night, they would end up with a team attack of .340 with only eight attack errors.
When it was all said and done the Eagles had too much of a balanced attack for the Seabeggars to focus on. ERAU ended the match with four players with at least nine points to their names. Sharik Joseph (SO/San Diego, Calif.) led the charge for the Eagles as she had six blocks, nine kills and attacked at a .500 clip. Audrey Baldwin (JR/Santa Barbara, Calif.) (JR/Santa Barbara, Calif.) finished with another 30 assist night and solidified her status as one of the best setters in the country.
The final set got a little bit more interesting as the Seabeggars carried the lead for a few points in the early goings. But it was the trio of Lyndsey Weiler (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.), Erin Clark (SO/Phoenix, Ariz.) and Caylee Robalin (SO/El Paso, Texas) who kept the fire going for the Eagles and closed it out. All three had at least seven kills, three digs and two blocks. Jalin Yoder (SR/Fountain Hills, Ariz.) also had a game high 12 digs to help the offense keep rolling throughout the match.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Eagles as they take on the University of Antelope Valley (3-17, 3-3) right here in Prescott tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for another California Pacific Conference showdown.
