PASADENA, Calif. – The last four matches for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) volleyball have all ended in three sets including Friday night's affair with Providence Christian College, Erin Clark (JR/Phoenix, Ariz.)'s 14 kills led the way in their 25-18, 25-17, 25-11.
ERAU (14-5, 6-0 Cal Pac) actually started a bit slow in the match before Caylee Robalin (JR/El Paso, Texas) aced a couple of serves on a five point run. The Eagles ended the first hitting .379 with 14 kills. PCC (7-8, 3-4 Cal Pac) snuck back into the match and tied it at 17 before the Eagles took control.
Both teams battled at the start of the second set before the Eagles separated. Elisa Pauzer (JR/Campinas, Brazil) finished with 11 kills, hitting .474 on the night, which was second on the team. The team only hit at .147 but were able to limit the Seabeggar attack to -.094. ERAU got 13 kills in the set.
The final set saw the best play from the Eagles as they hit at an astounding .619 whereas the Seabeggars only attacked at .143. Clark and Pauzer dominated the set combining for nine kills and really gave PCC no chance.
The Eagles finished with nine total blocks, four of which came from Sharik Joseph (JR/San Diego, Calif.) and another three from Julia Kjenstad (SO/Tacoma, Wash.). Kat Yung (SO/Phoenix, Ariz.) led the defense with 14 digs to help keep the Eagles attack in motion.
ERAU will take on University of Antelope Valley at 7:00 pm MST Saturday.
