Pauzer Over Powers Pioneers

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) took to their home floor on Friday night against a University of Antelope Valley squad clinging on to their postseason life but Elisa Pauzer (JR/Campinas, Brazil) and the Eagles (23-5, 13-0 Cal Pac) ended their chances of making a late push by sweeping them, 25-19, 25-9, 25-12.

There was a battle in the first set of the match as ERAU could not find a way to separate from the Pioneers (9-13, 5-8 Cal Pac). After jumping to a five point lead the Pioneers fought back and got the set to within two points. The attack of the Eagles was too strong as they hit at .417 compared to the Pioneers who hit at a solid .200. Pauzer started hot getting six of her 13 kills in the set.

While the first was close, the second set was all Eagles. Kat Yung (SO/Phoenix, Ariz.) was able to go on a seven point run, which included two aces. Later, Erin Clark (JR/Phoenix, Ariz.) went on a seven point service run of her own to close out the set. ERAU hit at .306 and UAV only at -0.025.

The final set was once again all ERAU as the Pioneers could not find their way. The Eagles kept thier pressure on the Pioneers as Audrey Baldwin (SR/Santa Barbara, Calif.) continued to dish out assists left and right, she finished the night with 33. The Eagles dominated at the service line, combining for ten aces, Yung accounted for five herself.

ERAU will play Saturday in their senior day game against Providence Christian College, where the Eagles will honor Baldwin the lone senior on the team.
