Box Score Riverside, Calif. – Caylee Robalin (SR/El Paso, Texas) put away 20 kills and the No. 25 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's volleyball team stayed perfect in California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) play, as the Eagles came back to defeat La Sierra, 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-21. Terra Gordon (SR/San Antonio, Texas) and Katie Rolle (JR/Missoula, Mont.) combined for 47 assists to help the ERAU offense put up a .295 hitting percentage in the match.
La Sierra (8-4, 5-2 Cal Pac) got out to a 10-5 lead in the first set, but Embry-Riddle (15-5, 7-0 Cal Pac) worked its way back and took a 17-15 lead on a kill by Sharik Joseph (SR/San Diego, Calif.). With the set tied at 19-all, the Golden Eagles scored four straight on an ace, a pair of kills, and a hitting error to go up 23-19. That proved to be enough of a cushion to give La Sierra the set.
La Sierra again had an early lead in the second set, holding a 14-9 advantage. Embry-Riddle tied things up at 16-16 on another kill from Joseph, then took the lead on a Robalin kill. That started a 9-2 run that had the Eagles up 24-18 before Elisa Pauzer (SR/Campinas, Brazil) put it in the win column with a kill. In the next set it was ERAU that went up early, running out to an 18-9 lead on a kill by Erin Clark (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.) and a block from Pauzer and Julia Kjenstad (SR/Tacoma, Wash.). La Sierra responded, closing to 21-18, but that would be as close as the Golden Eagles would get, as the EARU Eagles scored the last three points of the set, with Robalin ending it on an ace.
In the final set La Sierra again held an early advantage, scoring five straight points at one point to take an 18-11 lead. A kill from Robalin halted the streak before the Eagles were able to put three straight together to pull to within a point at 20-19. Still trailing by one at 21-20, ERAU put a streak together at just the right moment, scoring the final five points to take the match. Clark had a pair of kills in the run, with the Golden Eagles contributing to their own demise with three hitting errors.
