(25)Eagles Complete Weekend Sweep

Box Score

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – Saturday afternoon's matchup against UC Merced had a very similar feeling to the day before for Embry-Riddle volleyball, as it picked up another 3-1 victory. Just like Friday, the Eagles dropped a set, but held its opponent to under 20 points in each of ERAU's three set victories.

This time around, the Eagles were unstoppable in the first two sets, racking up 20 kills and just ten hitting errors. The Bobcats avoided a sweep with a resilient effort in the third set, but the Eagles closed out with an pair of 4-0 runs in the fourth to pull away.

The leading killer for the Eagles was Erin Clark, who finished with 17 kills. She was also a big help defensively, recording six digs and a pair of block assists as well.

Sharik Joseph really contributed defensively, seemingly getting at least a hand on ever swing from the Bobcats. Joseph finished the night with seven block assists and a solo block.

"It's more about getting into the setter's mind and thinking where the first ball is going," Joseph said about her approach to blocking, "what kind of hitter do they have up and who is up with them."

Elisa Pauzer had a great night blocking as well, finishing with five block assists and a solo block to go along with nine kills. Caylee Robalin recorded a double-double, recording 11 kills and ten digs.

The upcoming week looms large for ERAU, and they do not have a lot of time to think about the biggest match of the conference season so far. The team's return matchup with Park-Gilbert, the only blemish on the Eagles' Cal Pac record, is set for Tuesday night down in the Valley. It is a part of the preparation for the biggest stretch of this Fall.

"Our final goal isn't the Cal Pac tournament, it's after that," Clark said. "It's the National Tournament and right now we're working toward that goal. We have to take every game one day at a time and put ourselves in the mentality of postseason."

First serve against the Buccaneers from Gilbert, Ariz. is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday night.
