Eagles Sweep Past Antelope Valley

Lancaster, Calif. – It was an impressive showing for the No. 25 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's volleyball team in its final game on its three-match road swing in California. The outcome was never in doubt for the Eagles against the University of Antelope Valley as they took a 25-11, 25-11, 25-9 victory. Elisa Pauzer (SR/Campinas, Brazil) did not have a hitting error in the match and finished with a team-high 11 kills and added a pair of blocks to lead the way.

Erin Clark (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.) had three kills to start the match, leading Embry-Riddle (16-5, 8-0 Cal Pac) to an 11-3 lead to start set one. Antelope Valley (2-9, 2-5 Cal Pac) could only score back-to-back points once in the set and were never able to recover from the slow start. Caylee Robalin (SR/El Paso, Texas) had a pair of kills in a 4-1 surge that ended the set for ERAU.

It was closer in the second set to start, but holding just a two-point lead, Embry-Riddle put a 10-0 run on the Pioneers to take control. Puazer started and ended the run with kills, with Lily Figgins (FR/St. Charles, Mo.) adding an ace as the Eagles took control at 16-4. Antelope Valley did manage to put together a 7-3 run, but Pauzer had two kills in a 6-0 run to close it out, with Terra Gordon (SR/San Antonio, Texas) ending it on an ace.

Jumping out to a 13-4 lead in the third set, the outcome was never in doubt. Like the first set, Antelope Valley was able to score back-to-back points just once. Pauzer had three kills in the set to lead the Eagles as they went on to win the match.
