Eagles Earn Bid to NAIA National Tournament

PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – A day after an uncharacteristic home loss, the ERAU volleyball team bounced back on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Saint Katherine to win the Cal Pac Tournament. The Eagles also punched its ticket to the NAIA National Tournament with the victory.

The first set was tightly contested, as both teams came out firing with the national tournament bid on the line. SKU had 17 kills to ERAU's 14, but the Firebirds committed 11 attacking errors, including two consecutive errors while leading 26-25, ultimately giving the Eagles the chance to take the first set.

ERAU used that momentum from the highly-contested set to pull away early in the second set, at one point leading 21-9. While the Firebirds made a small run late, Embry-Riddle closed out the middle set with a 25-13 final.

The Eagles trailed most of the third set, and were behind 21-17 before going on an 8-2 run to finish the match in three sets. ERAU committed just eight attack errors, and finished with a .302 hitting percentage.

Caylee Robalin let the way attacking, finishing with ten kills on 22 attempts and a .318 hit percentage. Robalin also had a service ace, seven digs, and two block assists.

Sharik Joseph put together another excellent all-around day. She finished with nine kills on 14 attempts, amassing an impressive .571 attack percentage. Joseph also led the game with five assist blocks and a solo block, plus an assist from the front row.

The Eagles will await its assignment for the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round. The selections will be announced from the NAIA at 9 a.m. Monday.
