Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Prescott, Ariz. – It was an exciting afternoon of action for the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's volleyball team. The Eagles took on a pair of ranked opponents, with both matches going to five sets before they were decided. ERAU took the first match of the day against No. 12 Bellevue, coming out on top 26-24, 18-25, 14-25, 25-18, 15-10. Against No. 10 University of Providence the Eagles came up just short in a 25-19, 23-15, 25-15, 21-25, 15-13 setback. Erin Clark (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.) led Embry-Riddle (8-5) with 33 kills, while Kat Yung (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.) paced the defense with 40 digs. Terra Gordon (SR/San Antonio, Texas) added a total of 46 assists for EARU.

Vs. Bellevue
Bellevue (7-2) got off to a fast 7-2 start, but Embry-Riddle slowly clawed its way back into it and eventually tied it at 18-all on a block by Elisa Pauzer (SR/Campinas, Brazil) and Dalia Haase (FR/Tucson, Ariz.). The Eagles had a chance to win it at 24-22, but two straight points from the Bruins tied it. ERAU then put it in the win column with kills from Clark and Pauzer. In the next two sets Bellevue found its offense, hitting at over a .300 clip while its defense put the clamps on the Eagles, holding them to just over a .100 hitting percentage as they took a 2 sets to 1 lead.

In the fourth set Juliette van den Herik (SO/Arlington Heights, Ill.) had a pair of blocks and a kill early on to help ERAU to an 8-2 advantage. The Eagles held the lead the rest of the way, with Bellevue getting no closer than three points at 20-17. Leading 22-18 Embry-Riddle closed it out to send the match to a fifth set with kills from Clark and Katie Rolle (JR/Missoula, Mont.) and an ace by Yung. After going back and forth in the fifth the score was tied at 9-9. The Eagles then took control, scoring six of the last seven points to pull off the upset win. Kills from Clark and Pauzer, along with an ace by Yung paved the way for ERAU.

Vs. University of Providence
Providence (9-2) and ERAU stayed close in the first set until the Argos used a 6-2 surge to take control and go on to the set win. The two teams stayed close all the way until the end of the second set. Trailing 22-20, Embry-Riddle picked up consecutive kills from Caylee Robalin (SR/El Paso, Texas) that keyed a 5-1 run that put it in the Eagles' win column.

After a third set that saw Providence put it in the win column with an offense that had just one hitting error, the fourth set saw the two teams stay within a pair of points until late in the set. The Argos had edged out to a 19-17 lead, but the EARU defense held them to just two more points the rest of the way. A block from Pauzer and Sharik Joseph (SR/San Diego, Calif.) tied it before a kill by Joseph put the Eagles back on top. Joseph was a part of two more blocks as Embry-Riddle never trailed again and forced a deciding fifth set.

Embry-Riddle got out to a 10-7 lead in the fifth, but six straight points by Providence put them up 13-10. The Eagles then held off two match points on an Argos error and a Robalin/Joseph block, but could not even things up as Providence picked up the kill that gave them the match.
