Box Score San Marcos, Calif. – After scoring a three-set sweep in its California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's volleyball team did it again on Friday, this time downing Saint Katherine in three sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-19. Caylee Robalin (SR/El Paso, Texas) had nine kills, a pair of aces, and seven digs for the Eagles.
An ace from Tara Gordon started the first set for Embry-Riddle (11-5, 2-0 Cal Pac) and after a block from Elisa Pauzer (SR/Campinas, Brazil) and Dalia Haase (FR/Tucson, Ariz.), the Eagles had jumped out to a 7-0 lead. ERAU was not challenged the rest of the way and a kill by Robalin sealed it for a 1-0 set lead.
It was closer at the start of the second set, but an ace by Erin Clark (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.), another block from Pauzer and Haase, and a kill by Robalin put ERAU on top 5-3. It was a 19-18 lead for the Eagles when they strung together 5-1 run that put them in control. Juliette van den Herik (SO/Arlington Heights, Ill.) had back-to-back kills that made it 24-19 before a kill by Katie Rolle (JR/Missoula, Mont.) put it away.
Saint Katherine (5-5, 0-3 Cal Pac) got off to a 6-2 lead at the start of the third set, but after a timeout, the Eagles fought their way back and tied it at 7-7 on a Rolle kill. An ace by Clark capped a 4-0 surge that put ERAU on top 17-14. The Firebirds got back within two at 20-18, but Embry-Riddle picked up two kills and a block from Saharik Joseph to go up 24-18 as they went on to pick up the victory.
