Box Score Torrance, Calif. – A strong defensive effort helped the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's volleyball team complete a three-match California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac) road trip sweep, as the Eagles took down Marymount California, 25-17, 25-14, 25-19. Elisa Pauzer (SR/Campinas, Brazil) had a strong match for ERAU, sharing the team lead with seven kills, while also coming up big defensively with seven digs and four blocks.
A pair of kills by Pauzer helped Embry-Riddle (11-5, 3-0 Cal Pac) jump out to a 6-0 lead in the first set. Marymount California (1-9, 0-3 Cal Pac) could not string together more than three straight points in the set, and the Eagles closed it out on a Pauzer kill and an ace by Lily Figgins (FR/St. Charles, Mo.). In the second set ERAU got off to a 10-2 start and then used a 6-0 run, getting a pair of kills from Erin Clark (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.) and Julia Kjenstad (SR/Tacoma, Wash.), to come away with the win.
The third set was close until back-to-back aces by Caylee Robalin (SR/El Paso, Texas) put the Eagles up 10-6. With the set tied at 16-all, the Eagles came up with four straight points to take control, getting kills from Pauzer and Robalin along with a pair of hitting errors by the Mariners. The lead proved to be enough as Marymount could not get closer than three points the rest of the way as the Eagles stayed undefeated in Cal Pac play.
