Eagles Pull Away in Final Two Sets for Victory

REDDING, CALIF. – The Embry-Riddle volleyball team got its road trip started the right way, taking a four-set victory away from Simpson University on Friday afternoon. The Eagles split a pair of 25-23 sets to start the match but rolled in the final two games to draw its Cal Pac to 4-2.

Embry-Riddle had to battle early, as they had to battle back from an early deficit, and being down 22-21, to win the first set. The Eagles did have 15 kills and a .286 attack percentage, using its efficient hitting to close out the opening game on a 4-1 run.

The Eagles had a hard time attacking in the second set, as they had just six kills. Despite that, ERAU nearly won the set, and then really played well in the final two sets.

Embry-Riddle had 24 kills to just 10 attack errors in the final two sets, and showed its dominance to close the match. This was especially true in the third set, where the Eagles put up 12 kills and a .286 attack percentage.

Six different players for the Eagles finished with at least four kills, with Adiva Joseph leading the way with 12. Emma Barber finished with nine, and Dalia Haase had eight.

Haase was particularly dominant at the net defensively, as she had six block assists and three solo blocks. On top of the great defense at the net, Haase had her eight kills with a .438 attack percentage.

The Eagles had a great day at the net defensively as a team as well, with ERAU finishing with five solo blocks and 16 block assists. Katie Rolle, who also had 32 assists, and Juliette van den Herik, each had a solo block. Embry-Riddle was also flying around the court on defense, as five different players had 10+ digs, led by Lily Figgins' 16.

The team will get back on the court tomorrow afternoon with another important Cal Pac matchup. Embry-Riddle will play at Pacific Union, with the first serve from The Wagon in Angwin, Calif. scheduled for Noon.
