Box Score ALISO VIEJO, CALIF. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team hit the road for the first time this month, and got its trip off to a great start. The Eagles scored a goal in each half, and held off the Lions for a 2-0 win on Thursday night.
The Eagles broke through with its first tally of the night in the 40th minute, when Djougher Oliveira intercepted a pass and kept his shot low to score. Oliveira has been on fire since starting Cal Pac play, scoring three goals and adding two assists in the three contests.
With a close second half that saw both teams get their opportunities, and Embry-Riddle finally broke through for an insurance marker. Lucas Garcia picked up a rebound and fired the second goal of the match in the 76th minute.
Both teams had nine shots each on Thursday, but the Eagles put more of those on target, holding a 5-3 advantage in that category. Elias Ammon made three important saves, all in the second half, for his fifth win of the season.
The Eagles will finish up its road trip on Saturday night when they take on Saint Katherine. Kickoff from Pine Park in Carlsbad, Calif. is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
