FLAGSTAFF, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team started its season with the ultimate challenge – a meet with multiple NCAA Division I programs, including defending National Champions and hosts Northern Arizona. The Eagles competed hard at the George Kyte Classic, having four runners finish in the top 50 and be the highest non-NCAA team on the day.
Demetris Love, Jr. was the highest finisher for ERAU, placing 30th with a time of 24:29.1. Jacob Block finished in 44th with a time of 25:14.1.
Nick Young was not too far behind his teammate Block, as he crossed the finish at 25:17.8 for a 48th place finish. Luke Stratton and Doutimi Fakrogh finished just under four seconds apart from each other to give ERAU four runners within the top 65 positions.
Embry-Riddle will get back to action at its own home meet next Saturday. The Eagles will host a group of schools on a course that runs through the beautiful Embry-Riddle campus in north Prescott.
