Box Score In their first game back after a week off, Embry-Riddle swept the Pioneers of Antelope Valley 3-0.
The Eagles started out strong right away in set 1 as Alexsandra Rodriguez (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) had kills to put ERAU up 3-1. After UAV pulled within a point at 3-2, Embry-Riddle scored the next six points and forced the Pioneers to call a timeout. Out of the timeout, Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) and Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) added kills as the Eagles took a 12-4 lead. Hie Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii) had two service aces in the set and another kill by Hansen ended the set at 25-14.
In the second set, Embry-Riddle scored first, but the Pioneers held a 6-5 advantage before Clear made the score 8-6 in favor of ERAU. The Eagles then went on an 8-1 scoring run as Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) and Haase provided the offense for Embry-Riddle. Alexis Creager (Berthoud, Colo.) had a service ace to make the score 24-19 and Maliah Juker (Ventura, Calif.) finished the set at 25-19 with a kill.
The third set was the final set of the night and Rodriguez came out swinging right away as she had five kills. ERAU scored the first 5 points before the Pioneers got a kill of their own and make the score 5-1. After the teams traded points and UAV was able to get within three points at 12-9, Embry-Riddle scored the next four to pull away from the Pioneers on a Lily Figgins (St. Charles, Mo.) service ace and kills from Clear and Katie Rolle (Missoula, Mont.). ERAU closed out the set 25-13 as Sydney Sniffen (Kapolei, Hawaii) added an ace and Juker added another kill.
For the Eagles, Haase led the team with 10 kills as she hit .714, Clear had 9 with just one error, and Rolle had 7 on the night. Rolle also added in 34 assists and Figgins led the team with 14 digs.
Embry-Riddle has a quick turnaround as they play again tomorrow at 2pm in the Eagle Gym against La Sierra University.
