Box Score Embry-Riddle has won their last seven games and tonight beat Westcliff University 3-1 to move to 11-2 in Cal Pac play.
Just like the last two games, ERAU got off to a quick start in the first set as Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) had a kill and a service ace right away to put the Eagles up 2-0. Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) then added one of her season high 19 kills to put Embry-Riddle up by three. The Warriors tied the score at five points apiece and then again at 8-8 before the Eagles found some rhythm and rallied off four straight points to go up 12-8. During the run, Haase had another kill and Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) had one as well. After a timeout by Westcliff, they scored and were able to get within two points at 14-12 before ERAU scored the next three to make it 17-12. Embry-Riddle won the set 25-20.
Barber had the first kill of set 2, just like she did in the first set as the Eagles took a 1-0 lead. ERAU used to service aces from setter Katie Rolle (Missoula, Mont.) to break away from Westcliff and go up by four points with the score at 7-3. After a Warrior kill, Alexsandra Rodriguez (Phoenix, Ariz.) continued her strong freshman campaign with a kill, Alexis Creager (Berthoud, Colo.) added a service ace, and Hannah Clear (Fort Worth, Texas) and Hansen combined for a block to give Embry-Riddle a six point advantage. Back to back kills by Clear put the Eagles up 17-10 and they closed out the set 25-19 and took a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set was back and forth with the teams trading points all the way along as no team led by more than three points. Embry-Riddle had six kills from Clear in the set as she finished the night with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .500. A few errors by the Eagles down the stretch gave Westcliff a 25-23 win and made the match score 2-1.
Westcliff used their momentum and came out swinging in the fourth set as they took the early lead this time at 6-2. They held a four point advantage until Hansen, Haase, Barber, and Rolle all had consecutive kills to tie the score at 10-10. The Warriors scored the next point to take an 11-10 lead before Embry-Riddle went on a 5-0 run and force a Westcliff timeout as the Eagles were up 15-11. Coming out of the timeout, WU scored one point before another Haase kill and two errors put ERAU up by six points. Embry-Riddle finished off the set 25-19.
ERAU had big nights offensively from Haase with 19 kills, Barber with 13, Clear with 12, and Hansen with 9. Rolle had 53 assists during the match and Creager led the team with 14 digs.
Embry-Riddle will now hit the road as they travel to Southern California where they will play Providence Christian on Thursday night, October 19th at 6pm.
