Eagles Finish Weekend With a Sweep

Box Score

Embry-Riddle swept the Pioneers of Pacific Union College in Angwin today as they finished their Northern California trip 3-0.

Just like last night, Emma Barber (Goodyear, Ariz.) scored the first point for ERAU on a kill followed by one from Dalia Haase (Tucson, Ariz.) as Embry-Riddle went up 2-1.  The two teams traded points until Kelly Hansen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) put the Eagles up by two at 7-5 and ERAU led the rest of the set. Barber added another kill along with three in a row from Haase to give Embry-Riddle a 14-12 advantage.  Lily Figgins (St. Charles, Mo.) had a service ace to extend the lead at 15-12 before PUC was able to get back within two points.  Katie Rolle (Missoula, Mont.) then finished off her second kill and Alexsandra Rodriguez (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished off her first of the night as ERAU took a 17-13 lead.  After a PUC timeout, Hansen and Clear each added another kill to give the Eagles a seven point led.  Hailey Ching (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished off the set with two service aces as Embry-Riddle won 25-16.

The second set began like the first with the teams going back and forth.  ERAU didn't really pull away from the Pioneers until Barber had a kill to put the Eagles up by two points with the score at 17-15.  Ching then added her third service ace of the night to force a PUC timeout, however right out of the timeout, Ching did it again as she had an ace to make the score 19-15.  After two kills by Pacific Union, Hansen and Rolle each had one to give Embry-Riddle back their four point advantage at 21-17.  Another service ace, this time by Hie Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii) and a kill by Rodriguez ended the set 25-18.

With the Eagles up two sets to none, Barber started off well again with a kill to put ERAU up 1-0.  PUC scored the next couple of points on Eagle errors and a few kills of their own as they took an 8-5 lead and forced an Embry-Riddle timeout.  ERAU battled and regained the lead at 13-12 as they scored six points in a row.  Embry-Riddle moved the ball around well offensively as down the stretch Hansen, Clear, Rodriguez, Barber, and Haase all had kills and the Eagles won 25-16 and the match 3-0.

Embry-Riddle hit well as a team tonight as their hitting percentage was .365.  Barber led the team as she hit .769 with ten kills.  Haase had two solo blocks and Rolle had 34 assists on the night.

ERAU returns home for senior night on Thursday, November 2nd to play the Buccaneers of Park-Gilbert in the Eagle Gym as 6pm.
